Tigres Femenil confirms signing of USA National Tema Mia Fishel from Orlando Pride
We have a new number 10 in town
Tigres Femenil confirmed the signing of US-born and US National Team 2021 Young Female Player of the Year nominee, Mia Fishel. She will join Tigres following her college career at UCLA. After being selected in the 2021 NWSL College Draft by Orlando Pride, she will be having her first professional venture in Mexico.
Fishel, a San Diego native, began her collegiate career at UCLA. She was named an All-American as both a sophomore and a junior, and her 16 career game-winning goals rank fifth in program history. She decided to forgo her senior season to turn pro. In the 2020 U-20 CONCACAF for the USWNT, Fishel won the Golden Ball, scoring a record-high 13 goals in the tournament. She was the No. 5 overall pick in the Draft and is a rising star of Women’s Soccer.
Mia’s dream is to play for the senior team of the USWNT and she is ready to shine in the best team of Liga MX Femenil to accomplish this goal. She has built her own brand, Big Fishel Energy, and wants to encourage and enable more minority players to play and empower them through courage, strength, and confidence. As an institution that works every day towards the growth of the women’s game, we are honored and excited to be able to have such an amazing human and player in our our roster. We know together we will reach many of our established objectives.
Fishel and Tigres are looking forward to her debut under Head Coach Roberto Medina in the Clausura 2022 tournament and for fans to welcome her to the most passionate stadium in the country.
